Norris, Welcome to the boards. First, let me compliment you on the Good Shirt snake tweet. The reflection and fear are natural response to an event like this. Your 2 questions. What am I worried about? You are worried about life. Work, family, Legacy. Who is you circle of influence? Who is your mentor? What is your mission? What is your goal? Focus brings clarity. How to get his job and mine done without interrupting anyone else and without going into overtime? The answer is that you don't. Talk up the chain of command and let them know that there will be difficulties taking up the slack. Giving them a reasonable concession like an extra half hour a day that you will do for free to help out. Let them know what deadlines will be delayed or ask them what they would put at the bottom of the to do list. Then go down the chain of command. With those who are equal or below you let them know that you need help. Let others step up and help fill the gap. I bet you can get more work done with an honest conversation and 3 pizza's than a heavy hand and "Everyone has to pick up the Slack".
PS. What do you charge for digital rights to your photo's?

Sorry I can't help. The only surfing I did was powered by wind. I have limited access to salt water. I think that surfing is an exercise in patience and execution. You wait for the right wave then you have to get up and the ride depends on you and the wave. Honest, I prefer surfers to golfers. My religious activity involves counting to ten and making 12" paper circles holier.

The quick answer is to pursue knowledge. Become a master of your craft. General recommendations would be master the deliverable, get in the professional societies, and get a mentor. The deliverable is what the client gets for their money. Understanding that helps you do your work more efficiently. The has got to be a White hat society, Programming, IT general the meet monthly for lunch or diner. Or at least a journal, blog or forum. Getting a mentor is probably the best. Obviously it is a tricky thing to find someone who can help you and be impartial. Ideally you want a person who had the job you want to have.

I had a high school job on a dairy farm, So I have different thoughts than many people. I am a huge fan of animal product, eggs, meat, milk and cheese. I hate overly modified food. I took about a year off of sugar and that had been good. My personally problem is I eat for so many different things. I was trying to get my squat and dead lift up and ate like a horse. Now I am trying to get my weight down, and eat cheap. So lots of foliage, cheap whole grains (rice and oats), eggs, meat (lots of it ground), cheese, veggies. My stuff is very based upon recommendation of Vinnie Tortorich. My go to snacks are simple things like pickles, carrots, and hard boiled eggs.

I think I get 40% of this. Is it part of something else or specifically apart from something? How about a specific resource to get the readers digest version. Obviously I am not a practitioner, yet.

My name is Brian. I have no military experience, thanks to an honest ROTC recruiter, long story. I found the Jocko Podcast when AJ Hawk (NFL Linebacker) Mentioned Jocko and specifically his ominous pauses and intensity.
I have caught up on the Podcast. I am halfway through Extreme Ownership, and pissed I missed his master class at the nearby Gracie gym. Started the getting up too early and trying to de-clutter my day to increase my focus.
The MyNewUnit thing comes from a personal frustration. I live on the east coast and have a hard time finding people to fill leadership positions. After trying to fill too many myself, I decided to try to make some leaders out of the people I had. I did a pilot class with 4 guys and they moved in the right direction. My hope is to continue to develop materials, stealing from the wise, and getting more people together, forming new units. Intent is to create units of individuals to work together, develop life skills, leadership skills and seek knowledge.
If any of you have ego as big as mine and think you have thoughts no one else has had, let me know and I will shoot you a PDF of the stuff I used for the first class.

Any one want to start a Jocko Book club. It seems half of the podcasts are about books. I just got Extreme Ownership. We could start with that one.
