Welcome Marcus. Are you an Xpat (american) or just English speaking?
We have a lot of Fire fighters on the boards. Is leadership/ training/ a big problem or challenge for that occupation?

Lots more information this week on the Echelon Front. The Room rate is just over $200 a night. The best rate for the conference is just under $2,000 if you register before the end of August. I won't be attending this one. But give us a shout so we can help some of you troopers link up.

Will, Thanks for dropping a note. I am located in New York. When you can't sweat or roll, you can always turn pages. Or you can learn a unique skill. Something like juggling, or slight of hand.
Also, try to get a crew. If you are falling off the routine, a person who you regularly see is a good way of getting corrected before you drift too far.

I have been dancing around this thread for a few weeks now. I have been trying to be NSNG (no sugar, no grains). My biggest fall is Corn. Corn chips, tortillas, and Pop corn. Ice cream, coffee cake and Cheese cake have been calling my name for about 3 months.
The thing that makes it worse, is that I am working too much, not sleeping enough and stress eating. Ketogenic stress eating. Once it was peanut butter and mustard. Today, it is just spoon fulls of hot sauce.

Sorry, This took a week to put down. 1. How can a warrior (who once felt a strong desire to serve his land) handle a situation to live in a insane society which don't want to be defended (and has obviously decided to die)?
I see some contradictions or difficulty with your question. Warrior is an experienced fighter, maker of war. War is the absence or interruption of society. So Warriors have no “place” in society.
Who does the warrior become in society? In society there are assimilated beliefs, values and behaviors. You say the values, beliefs, and behaviors of the society around you are insane. The question is: Can you exist in that society? Can you change that society? Identify the Values, Beliefs and Behaviors that you have issues with and answer those 2 questions. Use these to identify your place in society.
2. How to handle from a warriors perspective betrayal of the political, judicial and even military Leadership where confidence in any of them is completely wiped out and lost? Is it inevitable that this ends to be like a Ronin?
How do you handle loss of confidence in leadership? First, make your enemy you own weaknesses. Struggling with your own issues help build humility and empathy.
I am an engineer and I like to think in terms of carbon steel. As we live we get dents and dings. When steel is hammered, bent, stretched, or cold worked it get harder. This gives it more strength, but makes it more brittle. It becomes unable to bend, flex or yield. Then, steel must be annealed. Annealing is just heating it back up near its melting point, which releases the stored stress, softens and renews the elasticity.
1. How does a warrior exist in this society? Change society 2. How do you change leadership? Change yourself. Improving yourself, humility, empathy, discipline, strength, pursue knowledge. This will make you more attractive to other people. Learn what you can from every person you meet. Change those people by your example. It creates your own bubble in society. If it built on light it will grow. Beware the darkness.
Let me know if anything doesn't translate well. Your English errors are very indicative of Deutsche.
Also, Reach out to Norris Buffalo. He has been struggling with similar conflicts. (He has been more active on twitter than the boards lately).

As yet another part of the Jocko Willink immersion. Jocko and Leif Babin are hosting a live event. It is October 20-21 in San Diego, CA. Few other details are public. I have first checked flights. Found flights from East cost to San Diego, CA for under $500. Echelon Front - MusterIf you are interested in attending or have other comments, drop some knowledge on this thread. Obviously, this is for us troopers. Don't think Jocko will be looking at this.

I understand you wanted a book, but that seem like a little bit of over kill. Also, the structural integration is often based upon the individuals. Jocko describes it as decentralized command. In Extreme Ownership, Jocko talks about giving direction to people who out rank him. Special_Operations_Command

Okay. 2 things. First, this orbits around the chapter of Owning the Why. The mindset is also defining the win. What is the goal? Why are you doing what you are doing? What do people pay for? What has value? This is good application for a mentor.
On the rebellious streak, another podcast Jocko talked about Ballistic speech. To develop the ability to be heard in loud environments they ordered candidates to use it in all student activity. Jocko forced his group to always do it, Super implementing the intent, to the point they reconsidered the directive.
Re-thinking your projects is a great thing to do. Forecasting, projecting, thinking about what they look like in the future helps improve product/projects. But it means NOTHING if are not getting anything DONE and DONE WELL.
If I was going to give you 2 actions. I would say get to work earlier, and try to have a 30 minute conversation once a week with a superior.

Interesting for a first post. I think the people on these boards are generally pretty donut deficient. This is nutritional denominational. I don't want a battle to start with the Apple Cider Vinegar people.

That book looks interesting. I think I would rather hear about the battles that the author, Ian S Uys. like Enduring Valour: South Africa's Cross of Honour.

First of all, no cash doesn't mean no gym. Find a place that does have classes. BE HONEST. You want to learn. You were wondering if there was a way you could take a few classes. If you could continue classes in exchange for cleaning the floor, lockers, Putting up flyers, working on their website, but something you will actually do, to a getting paid for it quality.
For stuff you can do. Bridges, Push ups, sit ups, Burpees, Flutter kicks. Plank. Also, be creative. Put an add on Craigslist, saying beginner looking for a training partner for B Jiu Jitsu.

My biggest neck work out is exhaust work on a concrete driveway. Every time I have to work on my exhaust system, I just lay on my back with my head a quarter inch of the ground for hours. The next day my neck kills.
The other exercise I do for my neck is bridges. Lay on your back in sit up position. Look up (away from your feet) and lift your but and shoulders off the ground. As you work at it try to push your hips up till you are straight from shoulders to knees.
Also a lot of Isometrics. Lay your head to the left. Left hand on your right side of your head. Push your head against your hand. Then repeat to the right.
