Podcast's been helping a lot. I tend to get on the loud side (not screaming by any means) at work, but work relationships are solid. More specifically, no one takes it as a threat or that I can't control myself. It's zeal that welcomes other zealous opinions. If someone is upset or yelling, I drop my tone/volume somewhere between 99% and 100% of the time. (Depending on the person, I can get away with: "No sense both of us gettin' worked up.")
And seemingly starting this week, I would say it's the 3+ hrs/day of JP's that have helped me both lower my voice and say same message with less words. I have to flank myself to continue this habit but...I CAN SEE IMMEDIATE RESULTS. The slow change is a sneak attack to coworkers as well. So, thank you!

Keep it up. Rochester can make it innate to have high decibel private conversations. JP has lots of wisdom.

Thanks, Unit! I appreciate your response. Perhaps it's my lack of intelligence, but what does it mean about Roch can be innate at having hi dB private convo? I took it to mean that the folks of Roch might have a tendency for unfriendly yelling and not listening...??

My college roommate were almost all from Rochester. Our most boring conversations were had loud enough to hear them through masonry walls. I think it is some strange form of dominance higherarchy. Loud = big = leader = aplha

Was hopping around and found this. Podcast 82 start around 15:30 and ends around minute 1:20:00 Echo and Jocko are talking about looking at yourself with a critical eye.
