Hello All-
My name is Barry and I'm new to the site, but listen to the Podcast often. Is there a way to get in touch with Jocko to answer a "protocol" question?
Thanks, B

The answer is nothing surprising. Twitter. Instagram. Facebook. The Jocko email gateway is Jamie. You find her at info@echelonfront.com We answer questions here too.

Just discovered the podcast and I love this guy! Our country needs men like Jocko, JP, et al. to do the difficult but very necessary work others cannot do. I've noticed on a few of the podcasts especially when Jocko has a former teammate they mention that someone getting fired. With what it takes to become a SEAL I guess I thought by the time someone gets as far as an LPO, Chief or Commander the weak links would've already been taken care of. What does it take to get fired from the SEEALS? And do they take away their Trident? Do they then go back to the fleet? Thanks and I'd follow you into any battle!

Getting fired takes about the same as anywhere else. Not doing the annoying parts of the job well. Not listening to leadership. Not accepting that you don't know how to do a part of your job and asking for help or practicing. Jocko has talked about coaching, writing up and firing guys on the teams. Legal trouble is an easy way to loose your role, rank, trident, job. Next is breaking the rules. Fail to turn in or secure a fire arm, fired a round inside a vehicle, be late, show up drunk, leave early, go AWOL, are all in the possible outcomes of someone who is stubborn enough to complete BUDS. Especially if they think that passing buds means they are too special to get punished. Lastly is getting more responsibilities that you can handle. If you can't take care of 5 people, you can't cut it as chief or captain. What happens when you do loose your trident, you get dropped to the highest step they can trust you at. Maybe you get passed to logistics, or commissary, or maintenance. Maybe you were a good operator, you just can't be a leader. Maybe you a wild card on you off hours. If you are a million dollar weapon that might not be ready, you get pushed back to artillery, steerage or mess hall. These specific examples aren't based upon real people or standard procedures, more just what would be a nightmare for BTF Tony or Rodger Hayden.

Your recent post asks the question, “Where do we go from here?” As the only sheriff to sue the federal government and win the most precedent setting states rights case in the history of the country, I can answer your question and provide an effective peaceful solution to the tyranny and government overreach. I am speaking all over the country weekly and daily at events & rallies. I just left Texas at two events hosted by Texas sheriffs. I would like to dialog with you and together share this information, before it is too late. Please contact me at (928) 432-1879, sheriffmack@hotmail.com, cspoa2011@gmail.com or 602-610-1566. For the record, in checking the Terms of Service agreement, I have not visited your website nor registered to do so, nor will I use your website for any purpose whatsoever and thus am exempt from any stipulations regarding its use. My sole interest & purpose is public dialog and discourse.

I was trying to get in touch with Jocko to ask how to communicate directly with Ben Milligan (author that Jocko recently interviewed in #331). My father was a demolition expert for engineer battalion (FIRST CAV) in Korea. He told stories of his sabotage missions he was recruited for, where he was to blow bridges - railroads etc... He has since passed -and we knew very little about his exploits other than his stories - he rarely spoke of the war and had terrible PTSD. I was wondering if his missions were ever recorded in documents etc... and Ben has obviously done some serious research. I just ordered his book - looking forward to reading it. Thank you Jim

Ben is not as plugged into the social media. There is always the option of sending a note to the publisher.
If I find Mr. Milligan lurking on the interwebs, I will try to put it here.

I work for a mental health nonprofit in Oregon. The people here are great, but we have problems with communication, efficiency, and leadership skills. People get promoted into leadership positions and often have little to no leadership experience or training. I don't have the authority to hire a leadership consultant for the company. Also, as a non-profit our budget is tight. However, I can make an enquiry and pass on your affirmative response to the right person. What I would like to know is if your company would provide training to us as a charitable donation or at least at a significant discount. We do good work here and we do our best to help people with all kinds of mental health issues, but we could do better. I will provide a link to our website if you would like more details about us. Also, we often provide services to veterans. www.ccmh1.com/

Justin, Jocko's company is Echelon front . They have an online academy with many free classes. There are many ways to introduce the concept of leadership training to an organization. It can be as little as sharing a video. I recommend getting a few people who are willing to read a book and discuss it. While Jocko's books are simple and direct, you can see his principles in many other leadership books. The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni align almost perfect. In one of my organizations the team was encouraged to read the 5 dysfunctions book or watch the hour long video version. That was a great way to introduce many leadership concepts. There are many other authors, Simon Sinek, John Wooden, Dale Carnegie, and many more. Hope you find your way back to this message. Good luck on influencing.
