Good day people,
I have to say that I did not know who Jocko was until I watched a Joe Rogan Podcast and sat here and listened for almost 3 hours and felt inspired, relate-able, and instantly understood everything Jocko said even though we are of different levels of service. I just retired a year ago from 20 years in the US Army, I have 5 deployments, 3 of them combat. I joined right out of childhood and this is all I know. This last year has been the hardest and mentally drowning year of my like.
I am a leader, I was/am a 13F (Forward Observer) and was responsible for over 100 soldiers daily and responsible for the knowledge of my leaders under me to ensure they were cool, calm and collective. After I retired I lost almost all confidence in my ability because i was not ready to deal with a world where values and your fellow worker were not the top priority in life. I am 100% disabled according to the VA and have a ton of anger issues that directly reflect everyone around me. I have applied for more then 200 jobs where I knew I could directly effect the organization and experience from the Military has never benefited me. I now work at a car dealership as a Inventory Control Specialist where I deal with $1.6mil in parts monthly and it is a good job, BUT its just a job with ZERO career progression.
I have no idea where to go in my life knowing that I am 42 year old and starting to feel that a job with no horizon just a straight road leading to know where is the only place I am accepted. I have helped in private 3 employees here get raises and new jobs to better themselves and I say private because I give them more support in there goals then management and that would not go well in this organization.
All I want to do is help people improve there lives and achieve there goals, I just don't understand why I need a degree or multiple years as a CIVILIAN to achieve this.
What do i do?
Steve
