Hello everyone, I am a new fan of the Jocko Podcast and have recently read "Extreme Ownership". Great book. I am going to read Dichotomy next. I have been leading my team for over 5 years. I love being on a team! I was officially promoted in 2017 when my team needed to grow by almost half.
It has been a great experience to lead new people. Some have responded very well. Others not so much. I am looking forward to the discussions on this forum very much.
thanks all, Steve

Hey steve, Welcome, iam new myself. I am interested to know how the others have responded. Good and bad. I myself have integrated some of the tactics to gain an advantage and have had similar results. Would love to learn more from your experience. Thankyou sir.

"Others not so much" is a common thing. For these members you have to make an effort to know them. Invest time in them. Learn who they are what they are good at, what they like, how they feel valued, and what they see as a punishment. I got dropped in a new situation a few months ago, all the people who gave me push back, I gave them more attention. With this attention you listen to them. Let them tell you about what you are doing wrong, how it was better back when, how they would they do that? Take their ideas, fix the problems, give them credit. Understand how to get them to do what will benefit them. Better and happier team members helps you too.
Little tip, don't cite the book as a reason for anything. Try to give team members credit for bringing up issues, give solutions as a temporary or draft that the team can improve, let them know their participation is more important than a perfect plan.
