I'm a civilian looking to increase my ability to assess my environment for potential threats and plan/respond accordingly. Does anyone have any resources to suggest?
Thanks!

Sodium hydroxide, Sheepdog response. Podcast friend Tim Kennedy giving practical advice. They have training sessions around the country for civilians. Sheepdog Response YouTube Another good resource is Tim Larkin. Here he is talking to AJ Hawk. It is a pretty good conversation of him talking to a normal person. Look at your life and find the riskiest behaviors, locations, times, environments. Try to minimize as many variables as possible. Be focused when going to the ATM, getting gas, getting in and out of cars, buildings. When in crowded areas; know the exits, look around, listen to the conversations, know who would be an asset and who would be a threat. Tim will teach you about levels of escalation. Look for those who don't engage with speech, make and break eye contact. These are the real threats. Talkers are testing you and can be a problem. Learn the signs. Study human behavior. And put the phone away, and look around.

Any of the books from Gavin deBecker or Rory Miller is a good place to start.
