Just checking in. Grew up in Hawaii. Lived there until I was 26 years old. Moved to Chicago in 1996 for medical school. Finished my residency in Emergency Medicine in 2004. Stuck around. Got married and moved 45 minutes outside the city to an unincorporated country home in the middle of the woods in Indiana. Live with my awesome wife, two dogs, a bunch of chickens, three peacocks, and a few other critters. Miss the city but loving the country. Miss Hawaii a lot but go home once a year. Did Jiu-Jitsu in the early 90s with Relson Gracie. Fell off the jits path while pursuing my career. Tried to get back on in my late 40's but found that my body can't take it. Now I'm almost 50. I still try to train once in a while but I'm always getting hurt so I usually don't last long. When I can I try to attend seminars with old icons that I admire. Occasionally make my way back to class and get some rolls in. Started listening to Jocko right from the beginning. His books and his podcasts have reshaped my outlook on life. Figured I'd get in here and see who else is listening to him.
