Sea Wolf: The Daring Exploits of Navy Legend John D. BulkeleylinkHey First post, but I've been listening to Jocko Podcasts for months now. Really amazing content, from an amazing man, often with even more amazing men as guests. I read this book a few years ago, but it made a big impression, Bulkeley commanded a squadron of PT boats in the Philippines as things were falling apart there as the Japanese approached. It gives a interesting look at leading a small group of men when the whole thing seems hopeless. He is then tasked with getting General Macarthur and his family from Corigigor to Mindinano so he can be flown out. It was a pretty harrowing journey, and Bulkeley awarded the Medal of Honor. The rest of his career is impressive. He got to thumb his nose at Castro and make him look like a fool on the world stage by getting a desalination plant up and running at Gitmo in record time, and then with great fanfare cutting the water pipes connecting them to the Cuban supply. Later he could be found prowling around nuclear facilities in Ninja mode to make sure security was up to snuff. He led from the front and got the job done even if it meant he had fight the pentagon or do the seemingly impossible. Yeah, Admiral Bulkelely seems like Jocko's kind of leader, and I would love to hear his thoughts on him, even if just in a QA session.
Thanks for the compliment on the Sherman tank site, I thought the venerable old tank deserved a place online that wouldn't spread bad info on what kind of tank it really was. 300,000 plus words, tons of rare technical images, and manuals, and all for free! I listen to Jocko while I work on it.
Well, I can't say enough how awesome Jocko podcasts are. The Podcast with Dave Burke was amazing, and the Colder Than Hell Podcast, what those men fought through and the contrast to what the happened to the Army on the other side of the Chosin reservoir, the things well disciplined men can do, well, it makes you think.
