How to become disciplined? It is an accumulation of inches. When you have no discipline you need to find one area where you have room for improvement and motivation for becoming disciplined. Gym, Money, work etc. You start with 1 awareness. You start logging your dollars with a spreadsheet, register or budget. You go to the gym, start walking or do a fitness test. Now you gain some understanding as to where you are. Awareness.
Next 2 / 3 are Communication and Learning. The language of money, fitness, business. Then how do you improve, where are the sources of knowledge, how to do you access that.
4 / 5 Coaching and Resources. Getting an external source of information, or another perspective. Then what resources do you have. How are you using them? What is your focus, and are you focusing your resources on your area of improvement.
6 / 7 Assumptions and Control / Relationships. What do you think is unchangeable? What do you assume to be true? Is that a reality? What can you control? How are you taking control? Can you actually control things in your life? Relationships are how you interact with the things around you. People, food, possessions, work, fame, attention? What relationships are healthy and what ones need work?
8 / 9 Service and Charity / Initiative. Are you serving others? Are you giving? Are you charitable? Are you thankful? If you intentionally do those things, you will see their value. Initiative is creating things. Actual action. Are you starting that Budgeting, gym or work improvement? Take a chance. Learn that failure is just the end of a cycle. Start again.
10 Power. Discipline is power. Work divided by time equals power. If you want power, you have to do work. Working on money will give you power over money. Working on your body will give you power over your body. Working on your relationships will give you power in those relationships.
