Hello my name is Eric Shahan. I live in Japan and have started translating old Japanese books about martial arts (independently). My last project was called The Hundred Rules of War by a Samurai named Tsukahara Bokuden who lived in 16th century Japan during a long period of war. He is said to have fought Miyamoto Musashi, but that story is apocryphal as he died before Musashi was born. However he left behind a Hundred line poem or song that "includes everything an untested warrior should know"
I listened to Jocko's podcast about the novelization of Musashi's life and how it compares to Jocko's military experience and found it fascinating ( looking forward to episode 💯!) Anyway my book is done but I wanted to see if there was any way to see if Bokuden's rules have parallels in today's military in the same way Musashi' ideas have been used.
