By Mark Bowden
Gripping examination of U.S. Marines battle for the city of Hue during the Tet Offensive. Powerful lessons in leadership combined with insight into the body count culture of the Vietnam War which mislead the public and civilian leadership in DC.
The battle for the city was a brutal urban conflict with ROE restrictions and confusion from lack of intel and tactics to combat thousands of enemy fighters. Outside the city, Bowden goes deep into the First Cav's efforts to serve as a blocking force for the Marines.
This was a huge eye opener for me and this book would be a great addition to the Jocko Podcast. A even better podcast would include the author and/or a few of the men or women interviewed for the book.
