I'm a white belt at my gym I've been going for about 2 months. I had made a mistake while rolling. I had my partner in a loose half gaurd he was on top I tipped him backwards and he fell hard on he shoulder. I obviously hurt him. It happened fast I don't know if I was holding his arm are not. My deliema is I'm 6'4" and 250 lbs I've was doing bjj to prep to go inf to the military. I know I messed up at the gym. Is there anything that I can do to learn a self defense that I don't spar with others. Should I just go to intro classes were we don't roll. Or should I switch gyms. And just not roll or roll very lightly at a new gym

Getting hurt is the price of playing the game. Now what level are you going at it? During class, you roll at like a 3 to 4 out of 10. When you go live, you take it up to 6 or 7. You got to let your partner set the level of intensity. Jocko talks about flowing and just position to position rolls. You were rolling with someone and they got hurt. You assume it was your fault. The instructor is responsible for what happens. Talk with the instructor. They will let you know if it was a little too intense, or if it was just a random happening. If your gym doesn't have a 250 lb white or blue belt to roll with, then a purple or brown belt can handle you. I would guess that the reason the person got hurt is because they are inexperienced, not specifically what you did.
You have been the subject of Jocko's advice to "old guys". He always mentions "beware the amped up white belt that is too big and too strong". Your remorse is the right response. If you looked at the injury as a notch in your belt, then you would be a problem. So let's look at reality. You will have trouble finding a training partner. No one will want to be your next victim. You will owe your injured partner a patch, half dozen donuts, pumpkin spice latte, 6 pack of lager, fifth of bourbon, or some other simple and appropriate gift. Remember you are possibly establishing what he will get for you when he gives you a black eye.
Use this to learn. I would gladly role with you, but I am 6 ft and 250 and old man strong and Dad with daughters patient. Look for "me" at your gym.

Thank you I'll talk to the instructor about. And try and reach out to the partner at my gym.
