Hi all. I read Extreme Ownership earlier this year and recently started listening to the podcasts and I am loving them! Just curious how many women are on the board?
Also - a question about BJJ - it sounds like a really great sport to get into, but I am a little intimidated by something that seems like such a masculine sport. For anyone else that belongs to a BJJ gym - do you have any women, especially first timers in there? Any advice for a specific gym to look for?
A little about me, I live in central NJ and work in NYC for a financial company. I have a young son and have been married for over 10 years. I did triathlons years ago before I had my son and I really need to get back into shape and the book has helped me find motivation for doing just that.
Thanks Jocko and Echo!

Most people on the boards pass through. There are many Lady troopers who do BJJ on twitter. I would look for a Gracie BJJ gym. A good gym will let you do a class or 2 before paying. I would try to find a class that has at least 1 other woman. My daughters are members at a Gracie BJJ gym and they have many women participants and even a co-instructor. Don't be intimidated to roll with the boys, but having another woman as a regular training partner can be helpful.

Hi, I've just been to my first BJJ class and loved it. Really friendly bunch and there were plenty of women there. As a fellow triathlete I was a little nervous about being thrown about but that wasn't the case at all. Give it a go, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
