My entrepreneur-friend recommended this book to me when I was joking about starting a company. I'm glad I listened! It provides some serious insight into why successful leaders of companies and leaders in the military need to make everyone under their leadership feel safe and trusted so everyone is able to perform at their best. I listened to the audiobook with the 30 day trial for audible. I'm sure you can find it many other places too. If this doesn't make you a better leader than I don't know what will. It seems to teach it from a genetic/chemical perspective. E.g. We still prefer tribalism, feel-good chemicals (dopamine, seratonin, endorphins, etc) ultimately impact the decisions we make etc Would be a good review on the podcast!

Sounds like an Impact Theory vet posting. Great recommendation. I have a que ahead of this one, but it looks good. I have been enjoying a bunch of his online content, like his Inside Quest interview with Tom Bilyeu.

I just finished his 'leaders eat last'. Definitely recommend. It's heavy on people first leadership, mainly focused on business application with a few case studies of companies that went through leadership changes of various styles and how they played out. He also does an interesting thing where he explains the biology of leadership and followership, how our biology motivates us for doing the quick easy thing, for the dopamine hit, and how that eventually sabotages us. Also how our brain is wired to reward us for having discipline by releasing other chemicals for cooperating and helping build a winning team.
