For the gentleman with the INTJ Meyers-Briggs Type. One of the limitations I find with Meyers-Briggs is that it is limited by not referencing all the variations of your personality. I know that I wouldn't act the same if I was having dinner with my grandma and the President of the USA vs having a beer with Snoop Dog. I think a more "Jocko" way of using this people type system is to figure out the "type" of the person you are having trouble communicating with and reverse engineer a conversation that appeals to their sensibilities. As a fellow INTJ, I find the Enneagram more useful in this framework as it addresses people having more than one type as well as identifying the way they cope with the world and their underlying fears.
I wish you well, TimW

Tim, Excellent point. I think this is a lot like a military term of Human Terrain. The idea is intended to give you a brief concept of how you might interact with them. One big thing you could use is attention. That can be a reward to some people and punishment for others. Knowing their personality can help you to use your "resources" to reward your personality types.

The term "Jock Up" was also used in the fire house. Same meaning/purpose.......Get fully Jocked up or all gear on including SCBA. My understanding it come as a reference to Jock Cousteau and relation with getting dive gear on.

I think it would be cool for you to interview the author of "Raising men" who was a sniper instructor. I think he would give a cool interview.
