Hey for anyone out there I have a question. I was trained in basic martial arts mostly judo style floor work and grappling. I also did krava maga for a few years. So 3 years ago I got hurt at work. Oddly enough using what I learned on the mat. I walked away with shoulder and knee trauma which ended my career. So over the last 3 years I've had 3 right shoulder and bicep surgeries 1 left shoulder surgery and 3 years of therapy on my knee and shoulders. I've also gained a bunch of weight from sitting my ads on the couch feeling sorry for myself. I still have pain but 70% use of my right arm 90% in the left. I don't have full range of motion anymore. My question is i use to love fighting and I want to get back in it. Its great mental and physical exercise and jiu jitsu is something I've wanted to learn. I hate using it as an excuse but I don't want to fuck my arms up again. Does anyone have any advice? Should I even try to fight again or even learn jitsu?

This sounds like a great opportunity for a private lesson. Find the local place an ask them for a private lesson. It will typically run you $100 bucks for the better part of an hour. Tell them your issues. Then learn the positions and try going from position to position. Then have him give you all the arm submissions so you can feel when to tap. Tap Early, Tap Often.
If you do start training, be selective on training partner. DO NOT roll with the White Belt Warrior. You want the guy with no temper, nothing to prove, generally the higher the belt the better, maybe the guy who is watching his back injury. If you want the link to Jocko saying this answer or me entering this answer to the white belt warrior, I will drop the links in.
You are looking for permission. You have my permission. *I am not a doctor, Blackbelt, or generally good person.
