Any recommendations for exercises that build neck muscle strength. I would imagine neck strength is critical before getting into BJJ or boxing. The biggest guys I know don't do anything to target the neck but seem to experience growth/strength incidentally. That doesn't seem to work for me.

Lay on the ground in a sit-up position. Raise your head, then simply nod until it burns. Do not let your head hit the ground. In the same position move your head as if you are trying to touch your ears to their respective shoulders (from one side to another).

My biggest neck work out is exhaust work on a concrete driveway. Every time I have to work on my exhaust system, I just lay on my back with my head a quarter inch of the ground for hours. The next day my neck kills.
The other exercise I do for my neck is bridges. Lay on your back in sit up position. Look up (away from your feet) and lift your but and shoulders off the ground. As you work at it try to push your hips up till you are straight from shoulders to knees.
Also a lot of Isometrics. Lay your head to the left. Left hand on your right side of your head. Push your head against your hand. Then repeat to the right.
