I'm ACP (my first initial, last initial and pirate).
I found Jocko while searching for Jordan Peterson on Youtube. Jocko's vehement narration of "Cannibal Island" in the intro #155 grabbed my attention like nothing else. The two hours flew by and I didn't even notice the last 30 minutes was a "commercial". Jocko and Echo's camaraderie and genuine enthusiasm is captivating.
Since mid February I've listened to about 60 of the podcasts working backwards from the newest one. Of course following Jocko's instructions to go back and listen to the older ones if a newer one was a followup.
I'm over 40, a husband, and father.
I have a "manager" title at a small business but I don't really manage anyone, just have a co-worker who I occasionally task and everyone listens to me because of my seniority and problem solving skills.
If I had to pick skillset that is my specialization I would say "computers". But I feel like even after more than 20 years of professional work I've never worked hard enough to develop true expertise, just know just enough to google the answer to any question.
In addition I would say I know the basics of carpentry, plumbing, striking martial arts (took several years of kickboxing classes with continuous sparring, I'm a terrible fighter but at least I have experience taking a punch), and handgun marksmanship though I haven't shot in years.
I'm hoping that by following The Path I can continuously improve myself and make the 2nd half of my life more productive, meaningful, and satisfying than the first.
