Saw an ad in local biz paper, Rochester Business Journal, for a Leadership Summit type event. Small note on bottom: "4-5PM-- Wine, hors d'oeuvres, networking and speed mentoring." So...I can't be the only one who sees something quite telling about our modern age. (Mind you, other than the goofy spelling of hors d'oeuvres.)
Speed mentoring...Hmmm. Microwave, drive-thru leadership. Can I have fries with that?

Mentoring is more about pointing the blindfolded person in the right direction. The guys I mentor, I generally know little about their specific work, company, co workers, or specific aptitudes. They give me their problem, and I give them the answer for the typical situation, and the answer for the exception.
I could speed mentor you. Listen to Bob Lonsberry. . . . . . too inside Baseball?

I can't bash speed mentoring altogether, the same way I can't bash speed dating. I thought the mentor-protege relationship should last more than the time it takes to chew 5 raw broccoli florets and 3 Triscuits. But yes, both are technically mentoring nonetheless. A protege means from French "cover in front," which sounds on par with Echelon Front.
Basically questioning if a speedy mentor actually cares about the protege. It seems Unit that you're the type who does care. I heard Bob Lonsberry once before. I think he could use some long-term speed mentoring.
Again, pardon my slow-wittedness, what does "...too inside Baseball?" mean?...Inside pitch? Thanks again, Unit! Def appreciate the feedback, and that there's a human who interacts on the web with more than some aloof, emoji-grade e-slang.
