Greetings from Anchorage, Alaska, Retired Army Master Sergeant. I just wanted to say thank you for this opinion piece on Fox News: www.foxnews.com/opinion/jocko-willink-the-american-flag-bears-the-weight-of-all-who-gave-their-lives-for-it. After serving 27 years in the Army and either attending or being part of the Honor Guard for a fallen comrade, there is no way I could have described the final moments of a military funeral better then you. It brought back so many memories of duty, honor, country and by the time I finished reading, I am not ashamed to say I had tears streaming down my face.

I agree and want to thank the honor guard members out there. They came to the funeral of my grand father even though he hadn't been active in the Navy in 50 years. I know folding flags doesn't have the same risk as infantry, but it has its own demands and challenges and shows respect to the task of those who join the team.
