Jocko,
I am a Marine Option Midshipman and have been training BJJ for about a year and a half. I'm going to be the student Company Commander next semester and I want to start training the Midshipmen in BJJ. However, there isn't a lot of buy in. Most people think it would be better to train in MCMAP but the prior enlisted Marines who train in BJJ say BJJ is a better way to train. Do you think it's a good idea to push this even if there's not a lot of buy in? If so, how can I better sell people on the idea?

I would listen to the 2 podcasts with Jason Gardner. They talked about getting extra chicken nuggets because they were bro's with the kitchen staff. I think if you want to stretch the rules, you need to first be one of the team. Go all in on the MCMAP for months. Be a good student, good listener, humble, helpful. Once you are one of the guys, then you can ask about having a BJJ session once a week. They are random toes that are going to get stepped on that you may never see. Assume that before you start. Build the relationship before you ask.
